But I stuck around with a sliver of hope!
I hope to see many more changes like this towards Nullsec in the near and far future!

@CCP Greyscale
I love these changes, keep up the good work!
I have 2 suggestions though...
1: If Capitals use Stargates, make them use fuel...
2: Consider logistics and ease the distance on them. Or a new Freighter would be good...less cargo with longer ranges! EVE needs more Pssshhhh |

After these changes, there is STILL no reason not to bring more people, and so the coalitions will remain.
This game was not dieing due to a lack of freighter escort operations and 7 month cooldowns, it was dieing due to the stagnant meta of "bring more people" and "not fighting is more rewarded than fighting".
CCP, fix the actual problem please. Six months from now you will be looking at subscriber numbers that are still declining, power blocks which still exist, and an even more blue doughnut with no capitals to counteract the subcap blob (oh and half your capital owning hub players will be gone). This is part 1 of a several part overhaul... EVE needs more Pssshhhh |

Zowie Brennan wrote:I think I have come up with a simple fix to the issue at hand for the proposed changes to the way capitals are used and moved. Instead of adding all theses timers and nerfing the jump drive to all jump drive capable ships by 50-70% which is what is being proposed.
Step 1
The universe is always in a state of flux and ever shifting, ever expanding. So we expand the distance between stars/systems by lets say 33-55%. This makes it more difficult to move not only capital forces quickly but also slows the deployment of sub cap fleets via portals. This makes escalation of fights a bit harder to do as well
Step 2
For Carriers and Dreads leave the jump range as it is now, you add a static Jump Drive cool down timer of say 10-15 mins, similar to that of the DD cool down. Still allow these ships the chose to use gates if they like.. For Black Ops not only add the Jump Drive cool down but also add a portal cool down timer.
Titans and SuperCarriers For these ship classes, limit their jump range to 10LY with the jump drive cool down timers as proposed in the Dev Blog.
Logistical Capitals
Jump Freighters and Rorquals
The only thing you change is how far they can Jump. Increase their range by 30-45% with no cool down timers. Lets face it logistics are a pain Simple fix?
My ass!
Tell me, what is easier. Poking a mechanic to read 5 LY instead of 15 LY. OR, move ~7500...ish star systems around?
Instead of the ship having a cool down, (multiple carriers, jump, swap ships, no cooldown.) Having the pilot take the cool time timer, which sounds better and you can't get around. Also, less info to track...
Limiting Jump range when your suggestion of increasing the distance between systems is also moot. The range has already been limited, there's no need to move the entire map around.
The reason why JF and Rorqual got hit aswell is force projection again. The Rorqual could be used as Carriers before JF came into the game. I agree that JF should be less hit then everything else... EVE needs more Pssshhhh |

Should our foes try to attack or dislodge us, their capital fleets will no longer be able to 'ninja' away from our sledgehammer of overwhelming force, as they do in the present system. We will also be able to use our own local capital fleets with total impunity and no risk of a cross-galaxy counterattack. Defense, you say? The existing CFC Forward Operating Base system will be expanded to ensure that we can 'bounce' simply using our jump clones, and we already have set logi routes to the primary FOBs from wars past. The situation for us is excellent. The situation for our various assembled enemies is a Goddamned Nightmare, and yet many of them are so foolish that they'll loudly support these changes, deluded into thinking it hurts us more than them.

JDC was supposed to protect my carrier by increasing the number of options for systems to jump to so that I can land at a friendly station. Now it means nothing with a limit of 5 ly.
JDO was supposed to protect my carrier by decreasing the amount of time I had to wait for my capacitor to be ready for the next jump so that my exposure time in space was limited.
What is the purpose of my ultra-long level 5 JDC and JDO training for carrier protection after these changes? With such exposures, how is this not the greatest capital nerf in the history of Eve?
Give capitals the ability to use the covert ops cloak, the ability to deploy a pos without any delay on the shield going up, fast align times, bubble immunity and +2-10 to warp core stability, and other things to make it not completely exposed and vulnerable out there in space traveling without either jump distance or jump ability. **** it, while we're on "special" mode...

Not Wormholes. Make it spawn black holes so that when capitals are allowed in highsec (which is a silly idea), I can have some fun sucking up anyone who undocks from Jita.

I think you guys need to learn the Provi way. Providence has always been into subcaps and lower, they have the best nullsec market and there are enough fights for everyone to entertain.
So why can't the mayor powerblocks not adept? It's not that hard. All you have to do is to build your own stuff, have local central markets that will have the goods that are needed. Use wormholes (which is a great way to find good fights) or roams to get your kills. Have a good intell network to do your logistics, and scout ahead.
So now people will have to work for their isk, which is good in my ears.
